JOB SUMMARY:
At Mid-Pacific middle school teachers are passionate about teaching and dedicated to supporting the unique developmental needs of adolescents, including cognitive and social-emotional growth. As members of a collaborative and highly interdisciplinary community, teachers work across grade levels and subject areas, requiring both breadth and depth of content knowledge. This collaborative environment supports critical thinking, real-world applications, and the meaningful integration of technology into the curriculum.
Social-emotional learning is central to the Middle School experience. All teachers serve as advisors, building strong, supportive relationships with students and guiding them through the advisory curriculum.
With expertise in science and technology, the Middle School Science Teacher engages students in grades 6–8 through inquiry-based learning, integrated instruction, and authentic, real-world problem solving. The ideal candidate understands and implements the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and is skilled at designing experiences that connect scientific knowledge with technology and engineering concepts in ways that are relevant to students’ lives.
Instruction is hands-on, exploratory, and encourages metacognitive thinking. Students build digital portfolios to demonstrate their understanding through a variety of evidence and reflections. Teachers are encouraged to bring in external partnerships with scientists, engineers, or community organizations to enrich the curriculum and extend learning beyond the classroom.
