SALARY RANGE: $28.00 - $30.00 Hourly
JOB SUMMARY: Working under general supervision of Building Technician Supervisor. Responsible for general care and maintenance of school buildings and facilities,
ensuring a well-maintained, safe school environment. Work hours may vary. Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform journeyman level work in one or more of the following areas: Masonry, Carpentry/Drywall, Painting, Plumbing, Air Conditioning, or Electrical.
- Able to work unsupervised, on a team, or lead a team project following written instructions or plans/sketches in the following areas:
- Masonry:
- Perform quantity take-off of concrete, CMU, reinforcing, and accessories.
- Order materials and assist in placing of concrete.
- Finish concrete footings, slabs, walls, etc. (trowel, float, edge)
- Set masonry block, point and grout.
- Perform basic concrete repairs/patching
- Carpentry/Drywall:
- Rough formwork for concrete pours
- Fabricate and construct small projects – office/misc. enclosures, partition walls
- Install/repair/replace windows, doors, hardware, cabinets, counters
- Misc. architectural and structural repairs due to termites, rot, cracking, etc.
- Construct stages, displays, install miscellaneous specialties.
- Painting:
- Prep, prime, and paint all types of surfaces – oil and latex.
- Prep, prime and apply fluid applied floor coatings, i.e. epoxy, non-slip.
- Maintain road striping, painted curbs, traffic control/handicap markings, etc.
- Plumbing:
- Repair and replace existing plumbing fixtures and filters as needed.
- Repair minor leaks and unclog smaller waste line blockages.
- Install new piping and plumbing fixtures/valves/backflow/PRV on smaller lines.
- AC Specialist:
- Install smaller HVAC equipment such as window or split AC units.
- Service existing window or split AC units – clean filters, condensate drains.
- Service existing air purifiers and dehumidifiers – clean filters, condensate drains
- Electrical:
- Install, change, or repair electrical outlets, wires, and switches.
- Install, change, or repair light fixtures, ballasts, and fans.
- Install, change, or repair misc. electrical devices – scoreboard, motors.
- Trouble shoot electrical issues with equipment to minimize repair costs.
- Hook up temporary power for special events.
- Help ensure compliance with electrical codes.
- General Maintenance (handyman):
- General familiarity with all the above trades.
- Skills to perform minor repairs in many of the trades without supervision.
- Major work in the above areas should be overseen by the journeyman.
- Assists journeymen to provide knowledgeable efficient support as a team.
- Also able to follow written instructions and plans/sketches to work independently.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Assist with set-up/clean-up of tables, chairs, tarps, tents, etc. for school functions.
- Provide labor services to move furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Perform any duties required to support the operation and function of the School.
- All Building Technicians are expected to be flexible and cross-trained in performing various tasks that pertain to the day-to-day operation of the school.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
- Knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building maintenance trades
- Able to accurately follow verbal and written instructions.
- Able to work as part of a team or independently when needed.
- Professional, clean-cut appearance that represents the school
- Have a service-oriented attitude and is able to work well with faculty, staff and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Our campus consists of multiple buildings on 44 hilly acres that requires walking and working on hills, slopes, and fields. Will need to bend, lift, and carry items. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s) such as for operating hand tools and equipment. For safety reasons, it is important to see and hear within normal parameters and possess the ability to move around without difficulty in order to work efficiently. Pre-hire and periodic physical functional capacity tests will be given by a third party to ensure the employee can perform the tasks safely and for the safety of others.
MENTAL DEMANDS:
On a daily basis must frequently problem solve, organize, plan, and clearly communicate. Must take the initiative to ensure a clean, safe campus. Must be able to stay motivated and focused performing routine daily tasks efficiently and with a high level of quality.
EQUIPMENT USE
All hand and power tools associated with building trades construction and maintenance. Golf cart.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Outdoor - Loud Noise, Hot and Cold Temperatures performing physical labor - daily. Indoor - Loud Noise, Hot and Cold Temperatures performing physical labor - daily.
